As of January 1, 2024, the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu will have new entry shifts; the head of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco Luis Nieto Degregori, indicated thus with the aim of regulating the tourist flow that is presented to said historic sanctuary and in 2020 changes in rates will be made with the objective of regulating and dosing the flows touristic, especially the one that shows up between 8:00 am and 11:00 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Deconcentrated Directorate of Culture of Cusco explained that there will be three time ranges. The first will be from 6:00 a.m. at 9:00 a.m .; the second, from 9:00 a.m. 12:00 pm.; and the third, from 12:00 p.m. at 3:00 p.m.
The head of this entity, Luis Nieto Degregori, mentioned that the entry times have to do with the influx of tourists. He explained, for example, that in the first turn you can only enter at 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. “The income will be every hour so that the sale of bus tickets to the sanctuary is done in an orderly manner and there is less impact on the sanctuary.”
The closing schedule will be maintained at 5:30 p.m.
THERE WILL BE AWARDS
During 2024, to encourage the entry of domestic and foreign tourists, in the second range a free admission will be given to the Manuel Chávez Ballón site museum; and in the third, in addition, an entrance to the Raqchi archeological center, located in the district of San Pedro, province of Canchis.
In 2020, however, there will be a differentiated rate. The first group, which is on the schedule with the highest demand, will pay 20% more; the price will remain in the second range; and in the third there will be a 20% discount.
And to conclude the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rogers Valencia, he said, that the new schedules will improve all services related to the main tourist attraction of Peru.
