If you are going to travel to Machu Picchu by train in the Cusco region, there are two companies that operate the railway using different routes. Cusco – Machu Picchu, Poroy – Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu. The companies are PeruRail and Inca Rail. These operators offer services by categories, from a luxury train to the local or economic.
PERU RAIL
PeruRail offers train services in Machu Picchu from Cusco, Poroy and Ollantaytambo as train services between Cusco and Puno and vice versa
Expedition Train:
It is designed for adventurous passengers looking for comfort and safety. The Expedition service has remodeled its seats with tapestries with Inca motifs, a very local touch, as well as the comfort of having ample space for backpacks. There are panoramic windows so you can enjoy your trip to Machu Picchu.
Vistadome train:
The fastest and most convenient way to visit Machu Picchu. On the trip, you can enjoy delicious snacks and hot and cold drinks. There are recently renovated cars, which are equipped with panoramic windows that allow you to enjoy a spectacular view and take wonderful photographs.
Hiram Bingham luxury train:
It has 2 cars with 42 passenger seats. There is a wagon and another car for cooking for food preparation, and an observation car with balcony. Almost 3 meters longer and 30 cm wider than others on the same route, these cars are among the most spacious and comfortable in the world.
Local train:
The local train is exclusive for national tourists and for those who have residence in the city of Cusco. It is a very comfortable train for those who prefer to travel economically.

Unlike PeruRail, this company only operates between the stations of Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes.
Inca Rail tourist train
For this service each car has capacity for 48 passengers to guarantee maximum comfort for its passengers. In addition, all seats have tables in front and panoramic windows to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
First class train
It has only 30 passengers per car, this service has spacious and comfortable seats, which have been carefully designed to ensure total passenger comfort. In addition, all seats have tables in front and panoramic windows to enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way to Machu Picchu.

TRAVEL CONDITIONS
Reservations must be made at least 20 days in advance.
Passengers cannot be admitted to the train if their physical or health condition is not compatible with the trip.
In the case of weather interruptions, STRIKES, natural disasters and / or mechanical failures that cause delays and / or cancellation and / or reprogramming of itineraries, the operator has no obligation and is not responsible for what is beyond their control.
Passengers can only board the train that shows the original train tickets and their passports.
Electronic tickets are not refundable.
Any cancellation made by the passenger within 30 days prior to the trip will be subject to a fine of the total amount paid.
Passengers who do not send a cancellation or do not show up on the day of the trip will lose their tickets.
The changes of dates can be made no more than 24 hours before the departure of the train, but this alteration can only be made by the passenger directly at the PeruRail offices in Cusco, showing their original identity document and ticket. The new date will be subject to availability for the next 7 days. The fine is 10% of the ticket price and must be paid directly at the PeruRail offices in Cusco (the receipt must be shown along with the electronic ticket when boarding). Tickets can only be changed once.
