The road from Choquequirao to Machu Picchu is a new route for those who love adventure and long walks in the mountains. This route has a connection with the last Inca city of Vilcabamba and with Machu Picchu that is in the middle of different Inca roads that crossed the entire Inca Empire. After a hard walk, we will see Choquequirao (“cradle of gold” in Quechua) fascinating and remote: impressive in design and location, located on top of a spur on the Apurimac canyon, the third deepest canyon in Peru. This is the great place to see condors that inhabit the area. From here we continue our trek to an even more remote territory where we can see the villagers living in the Yanama area, as well as glaciers, valleys and silver mines. The highest point of the trek is the Yanama pass after which we descend to the subtropical area. We walk through the coffee and plantain plantations before reaching Aguas Calientes. The last day is dedicated to exploring the Lost City of the Incas – Machu Picchu.

This is one of the excursions that cross the incredible mountain range of the Andes of Vilcabamba. As such, it appeared in traveling magazines and is being considered one of the best regions in the world to travel in 2017 by the travel magazine Lonely Planet.
